Sunday 15 November | Tobacco Factory
Then, in November, we welcome a true legend of British jazz guitar, Jim Mullen.
With a career spanning more than five decades, Glasgow-born Jim Mullen is one of the most distinctive guitarists in European jazz.
A key figure in the British jazz-funk explosion of the 1970s and 80s, Mullen co-founded the legendary Morrissey–Mullen alongside saxophonist Dick Morrissey, before going on to work with an astonishing range of artists including Average White Band, Brian Auger, Mose Allison and Gene Harris.
His playing is instantly recognisable. Rather than using a plectrum, Jim plays with the flesh of his thumb, creating a warm, rich and deeply expressive sound.
Now performing with his powerhouse organ trio, Jim is still delivering electrifying live performances around the world.
This is a rare opportunity to see a genuine giant of British jazz up close and personal in the intimate setting of the Tobacco Factory.
